"Miss Cavagnaro, the first American nursing supervisor, took charge of our orientation and within a matter of 10 days we were assigned to our nursing duties. We experienced no special technical difficulties, but due to the language barrier misunderstandings were prone . . . The spirt of mutual sincerity, however, brought about the desired understanding. At the beginning of the medical examination program we experienced a great deal of difficulty in soothing the feelings of the atmomic bomb survivors before obtaining their medical history, but through the repetition of the medical exmination cycle we were able to win their confidence."
